Christmas Baubles - decorations

I designed a Xmas baubles pattern in 2011. I was revising it as I wanted to incorporate my Triathletes motives and I ended up making three different bauble sizes to fit the sporty motives in the two bigger sizes. The small size is exactly the same as the 2011 pattern, size 2 is slightly bigger than size 1 and the increasing and decreasing stitches are placed differently than size 1 to avoid any distortion of the new motives. Size 3 is the biggest and it is worked with a thinner yarn than sizes 1 and 2. Here you will find the instructions for all 3 bauble size constructions and a handful of charts with motives I designed, but you will be able to add your own motives if you wish to do so in the empty template charts provided for each size. For the finishing you will have two different kinds of hanging loops to choose from. Motif and colour combinations are countless, enough to make all your beloved ones happy.

YARN
For this decorative accessory the yarn you use or your gauge aren’t that important.
For sizes 1 and 2 I used WYS Colour Lab DK (100% British Wool; 225 m / 245 yds per 100 g ball); and for size 3 I used Jamieson & Smith 2 ply jumper weight (100% Shetland Wool; 115m / 125yds per 25g ball).

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
Gauge-size needle(s) of your preferred type for working small circumferences
Hook
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle
Toy filling

Please note that the gauge is quite tight to avoid that the filling will be visible through loose fabric. If needed go down two needle sizes.

PATTERN NOTES
The baubles are worked from bottom to top. The central part of the bauble is worked in stranded colourwork.

PLEASE NOTE:
the pattern is for personal use only
